NEWS FLASH!
BAS has moved the office from downtown Rosarito to the Sanctuary facility the first week of December.  Our phone # at the Sanctuary is 011 521 661 112 0126 (if calling from the U.S.)  If you are calling from Rosarito, just dial 112-0126.  Sanctuary and office location marked on map below as "NEW BAJA ANIMAL SANCTUARY".

It is a good idea to contact Sunny before you take the trip to the sanctuary.  It is not unheard of for the directions to change due to construction or other unforeseen circumstances.  The Baja Animal Sanctuary is located just 25 miles south of the San Ysidro border crossing. We have volunteers who drive down to BAS all the time who are very willing to have you follow them to the sanctuary your first time down, or, if you do not want to drive yourself, we have volunteers who you can carpool with. Either way it's a good idea to call or email ahead of time so we know you are coming.

Directions to BAS:

  • From the border, stay to the right and take the cuota (toll road) toward Rosarito.


  • Take the first Rosarito exit… Rosarito Norte. Watch for stop signs!


  • Turn left at stoplight (McDonalds is across the street on the corner… ½ mile up the road). Go over the cuota (there’s a bridge) to Guerra Blvd (it’s a main street).


  • You will see a carnitas/taco shop on the right side, on the corner (it’s a blue building that says “Pepsi” on it.) Make a right. Follow the road until it looks like it dead ends (about ¾ of a mile). Make a left (Tabasco Street).


  • Stay towards the right. At the fork…take the low road (bear right).


  • This road takes you to the Sanctuary (about 1 mile) up the mountain.


  • If you get lost………you’re on your own!
