MONTHLY UPDATE!
A TREMENDOUS THANK YOU!

To all the assisted us with donations, both monetarily and in-kind, to help BAS make the much needed repairs after suffering two days of windstorm damage. We are in the process now of repairing roofs and other areas of BAS that suffered damage due to the 70 - 100 mph winds that tore thru the hills above Rosarito on Oct. 22 and 23rd. Fortunately, none of our workers or dogs were injured, although everyone suffered from a lot of jittery nerves. I was amazed at the response we received to our call for help! With all the firestorms going on in California, our supporters still had the energy and the heart to open their wallets for BAS. We estimated our repairs to cost between $5,000 to $6,000 dollars. Money, as of lately, has been a serious issue for the Sanctuary, as donations have been down, and we barely had enough to cover our general operating expenses. So, again, thank you for your kindness and generosity.

For the month of October, BAS has received 37 animals, including one lovely male dog, who was ejected from the back of a speeding pick-up truck. One of our workers, who happened to be behind the truck, stopped and picked up the dog, and brought him to BAS late in the evening. He suffered minor cuts, and a bloody mouth, but in all other aspects he is OK.

And, so it goes, 24 - 7. Even during the windstorms, we received 10 puppies, all apparently abandoned and homeless. During the high winds, two of our workers went into Rosarito to pick up supplies, and found two german shepherd puppies, tied to a fence with wire around their throats. We had no idea as to how long they had been in the hot winds, but their eyes were crusted shut from the dust and debris that had been blowing during that day. Please know how much your support and generosity is appreciated. The costs to care for the animals here at BAS is quite high. Our vet bills, medicines alone, average over $2,000 each month. We could not help these animals without you!
